Superintendent Leonard J. Armato announced his upcoming retirement, effective June 30, 2019, citing his desire to afford the St. Mary Parish School Board ample time to advertise, interview, and find a suitable replacement for his current position.
In his announcement, Mr. Armato offered thanks to the school board for the opportunity to serve as superintendent, as well as to every school board employee for being an important part of the district's success. Mr. Armato also expressed his appreciation to his wife Patty and to his family for their sacrifices and unwavering support throughout the years.
Mr. Armato's retirement marks the conclusion of a 33-year career in education that also included roles as teacher, coach, assistant principal, principal, and supervisor.
