St. Mary Parish Schools Recognizes Suicide Prevention Month

The St. Mary Parish School District's Proclamation recognizes suicide as a serious public health problem, and suicide prevention as an important responsibility, and designates September as Suicide Prevention Month across the district. This month overlaps with World Suicide Prevention Day, which is recognized internationally and supported by the World Health Organization. The 2023 World Suicide Prevention Day is recognized on Sunday, September 10, 2023.

The St. Mary Parish School District is committed to promoting a safe environment for all students and staff where suicide awareness and prevention education and resources are readily available throughout the district.

St. Mary Parish School District has active partnerships with local health and mental health care providers and Care Solace, which is a program that connects students, staff, and their families to care. At no cost to you, Care Solace will quickly and confidentially find available mental health and substance-use providers matched to your needs.
