Newly Appointed Assistant Principal (updated 11/19/2021)

Updated 11/19/2021

From Dr. Bagwell:

Due to unforeseen circumstances, Ms. Melanie Belle has elected to remain as a teacher and forgo her appointment as assistant principal at Morgan City Jr. High. In response, this important leadership role will be assumed by Ms. Crystal Daigle who currently serves as Title I Instructional Specialist in the areas of Pre-K and K-8 literacy. Ms. Daigle previously served as an English language arts teacher at Morgan City Jr. High and has experience in collaborating with the school’s staff and parents.

The addition of Ms. Daigle to the leadership of MCJHS in an acting role will be of significant academic benefit to all students and staff while supporting the school’s overall instructional progress.

Previous Announcement:

Morgan City Jr. High School will be welcoming a new assistant principal as Ms. Melanie Belle has been selected to join the school’s administrative team. Ms. Belle will replace Ms. Alexis Rack who recently accepted an administrator position in Lafayette Parish.

Ms. Belle is a graduate of Morgan City High School and Nicholls State University where she was awarded a Bachelor’s degree in Secondary English Education and a Master’s degree in Educational Leadership. After student teaching at Morgan City High School, she has spent her 15-year career at Stephensville Elementary School teaching English language arts in grades 6-8. She also served as leader of the School Improvement, Positive Behavior Intervention and Support, and other school-level committees. Ms. Belle will certainly be an asset to the school as she is highly motivated to positively impact students as they grow academically and socially throughout their middle school years.

I also want to thank all those who expressed interest in serving as the school’s assistant principal. St. Mary is very fortunate to have educators willing to accept a leadership role in our schools.
