Personally Identifiable Information (PII)
The Louisiana legislature recently passed Act 837, which provides for limitations and prohibitions on the collection and sharing of information about students, and Act 677, which requires school districts to publish information about how this personally identifiable information (PII) is shared with others.
PII is defined as information about an individual that can be used on its own or with other information to identify, contact, or locate a single student. Parents or guardians may register a PII complaint related to the unauthorized transfer of student data with the district's contact person.
