Welcome to the Help Desk for District Employees.
When you are seeking technical assistance, you may be asked for your IP address or computer name. Look for the symbols below to determine your OS (operating system), and follow the directions.
- To find your IP address:
- Click the Microsoft circle icon in the lower left-corner of your screen.
- In the Search programs and files box, type command prompt. Click the link to the Command Prompt dialog box that appears in the search results.
- When the black Command Prompt dialog box opens, you will see your name and a > symbol. Place your cursor behind the > and type ipconfig. Then press Enter on your keyboard to run the command.
- Copy the number associated with IPv4 Address.
- To find your computer name:
- Click the Microsoft circle icon in the lower left-corner of your screen.
- On the grey bar (right side), right-click Computer and select Properties.
- About halfway down, you will see Full Computer Name. PC name and a code with letters, numbers, and hyphens. Copy that code exactly as it is written.
- To find your IP address:
- In the Type here to search box on Task Bar, type command prompt. A black Command Prompt dialog box will appear.
- You will see your name and a > symbol. Place your cursor behind the > and type ipconfig. Then press Enter on your keyboard to run the command.
- Copy the number associated with IPv4 Address.
- To find your computer name:
- In the Type here to search box on the Task Bar, type computer name.
- The View your PC name (System settings) option will appear in the search results. Click the link to open the System Setting information box.
- Beneath the Windows 10 icon and title, you will see PC name and a code with letters, numbers, and hyphens. Copy that code exactly as it is written.
