The Compass Information System is Louisiana's educator support and evaluation system, which is intended to provide all educators with regular, meaningful feedback on their classroom performance. In this system, every teacher and school leader is evaluated annually using a tiered rating system: Highly Effective, Effective: Proficient, Effective: Emerging, or Ineffective. Half of the evaluation is based on achievement of student learning targets and half is based on observations by a supervisor using the appropriate Compass rubric.
