GETTING YOUR CHILD TO AND FROM SCHOOL SAFELY
Use either Park Street or Taft Street in the mornings. Both streets are one way streets from Fifth Street to Third Street north bound at arrival and dismissal.
In order to ensure your child’s safety, all parents must enter the drop off lines.
The front of the school is a bus zone only.
Students are not to arrive at school before 7:20. Teachers do not go on duty until that time. The students will be unsupervised any time before 7:20. Breakfast will be served from 7:20 to 7:45 for kindergarten through 4th grade students.
Students enter classrooms at 7:55 , and students will be marked tardy if they are not in the room at 8:00.
Car Riders: Parents are to pick up car riding students by the Park Street or Taft Street entrance each day. Park and Taft Streets are one way northbound from Fifth Street to Third Street at arrival and dismissal. Dismissal for PK ONLY is 2:50. Dismissal for kindergarten through fourth grades is 3:00.
PreK, K, and 1st grade car riders will be picked up by the cafeteria (Park Street).
2nd, 3rd and 4th graders will be picked up on the Taft Street side.
If you have children in BOTH age groups, the older ones meet the younger ones by the Part Street cafeteria side for dismissal.
Parents picking up students in grades 1 - 4 along with our PK, K and 1st graders on Park street need to wait until 3:00 to get in line. PK dismisses earlier as a part of their day. If you get to the front before 3:00 you will be asked to make a block so the loading does not stop for the PK students only.
Children will not be dismissed to vehicles in the front of the school. If you pick up in a car, please do not try to bypass the line by listing your child as a walker. You are teaching them they they do not have to follow the rules. They are safe in the building as a car rider.
Walkers will be dismissed AFTER CAR RIDERS at 3:10pm. Walkers will be escorted to the crossing guards on their respective sides. If you are walking to meet students, please meet them across the street in the lot.
FOR THE SAFETY OF ALL OUR WATTS FAMILY, NON-STUDENTS ARE NOT ALLOWED TO WALK THE HALLS TO COLLECT STUDENTS AFTER SCHOOL, NOR TO WALK STUDENTS TO THEIR CLASSROOMS AFTER SCHOOL ROUTINES HAVE BEEN ESTABLISHED.
Any student left at school after 3:20 PM, will be put in the afternoon student care program and will be charged for the placement.
No changes in dismissal procedures can be given after 2:45. If you need to change the way your child gets home, please send a note in the morning to the child's teacher.
