Mrs. Comeaux
Dear Parents,
Hattie A. Watts Elementary School welcomes you to the 2023-2024 school year. We are looking forward to another wonderful school year. We hope that with your support we can help your child reach his or her fullest potential. We want what is best for your child. Our goal as educators is to communicate effectively and frequently with one another to discuss your child’s academic successes and concerns.
Our bell schedule has a few changes this year and school will begin at 7:55 and end at 3:05. It is extremely important for students to be here on time and every day to stay on track for greatness this year.
Students with more than 3 unexcused absences or 5 unexcused tardies may be referred to the District Attorney’s Office. Please try to schedule doctor appointments after school hours when possible and make sure to return the excuse the next day. Any changes in dismissal must be called in before 2:30.
This year we will continue implementing the “Wee Jack 5.” These are expectations that will be taught at the beginning of the school year and followed throughout the year. Homework is an extension of learning, and we ask that students do their best to complete it every night. Please make sure to look through your child’s take-home folders daily.
This handbook contains policies and procedures as set forth by the St. Mary Parish School Board as well as Hattie A. Watts Elementary School. Please read it in its entirety, and become familiar with the services, practices, and guidelines at our school. For more information about our school, please contact your child’s teacher.
We are super excited for this year and look forward to working together to ensure the success of our Wee Jacks. Thanks for your continued support.
Sincerely,
Brianna Comeaux Ed.D.
Principal
