Secondary English Education
Mr. Jody Crout
I graduated from the Jefferson Parish Public School System in 1990 and immediately enrolled in college. In 1994, I graduated from the University of New Orleans with a Bachelor of Arts Degree in Secondary English Education and have taught in the public school systems of Jefferson Parish, Orleans Parish, and Saint Mary Parish as an English teacher and Fine Arts Survey teacher ever since my graduation.
As an educator, and former 2017-2018 Saint Mary Parish Teacher of the Year, I believe that every child has the ability to achieve any goal they put their mind to with the right positive reinforcement. Furthermore, I believe that every child has the right to go to college to pursue their dreams and, as an educator, it is my responsibility to ensure that every child should be as prepared as possible for that goal to become a reality. As educators and parents, it is our inherent nature to want our children to have a better life than we had so that our world will be a better place for all of us to live in. Being an English educator at heart, I try to bring literature to life through cross curricular instruction and integration of history, science, arts, psychology, geography, and current events to afford the students a better understanding of the literature being discussed, but most importantly, to allow the students the ability to see that a diverse education has no boundaries and affords unlimited possibilities on shaping the future.
