Mrs. Smith's 4th grade classes were invited to participate in the Keep Kids Learning Pilot Program through Donors Choose. The program allows teachers to shop for books and other items, and ship them directly to students while schools are closed. Her Wee Jacks were excited to receive their books!

The photo gallery from the Keep Kids Learning programs can be viewed on the Hattie Watts website under About Our School, Photo Gallery, 2019-2020 Photo Gallery, Keep Kids Learning.

  • School Closure

    Posted by webmaster on 4/14/2020

St. Mary Parish Schools will be closed for the remainder of the school year. We will keep families informed as we receive more information. We encourage our Wee Jacks to work hard on their Phase I and Phase Ii instructional packets. From our Watts family to yours, we send a big virtual hug! If you were not able to pick up the second instructional packet you can email your child's teacher for a digital copy.

Posted by webmaster on 4/3/2020 2:00:00 PM

Phase II packets will be distributed next Wednesday, April 8 from 3:30-5:30. Parents should drive up Taft Street to the bus canopy in front of school and remain in their vehicles. We will also give refunds for LEAP T-shirts and school events that were canceled. Just tell us the child’s name and grade level for the refund. If you cannot pick up packets on this day, you may pick one up Friday, April 10 from 9:00-11:00.  On this day, packets will be in boxes outside the office door. Staff will not be there to meet you in your cars. Teachers will check emails daily. Feel free to contact them by email if you have any questions. We are here to support our Wee Jack families!

  • Census

Posted by web administrator on 3/5/2020

Hattie Watts is participating in the U. S. Census Bureau's Statistics in Schools (SIS) program to unite schools around the country in an effort to count every child in the 2020 Census.

The national census is conducted every 10 years. Data from this census is used to determine funding for many programs including special education, classroom technology, teacher training, after-school programs, and school lunch assistance.

In mid-March, your family should begin receiving official Census 2020 mail with instructions on how to respond. By April 1, 2020, every home should receive an invitation to participate in the 2020 Census. You will have three options for responding:

    • Online.
    • By phone.
    • By mail.

Hattie Watts urges every family to participate. The Statistics in Schools flyer in English and Spanish  can provide you with additional information for this important upcoming event. You can also find these flyers in our Peachjar E-Flyers area.

    Everyone Counts
