Scheduling Courses in Middle and High School
📚✨ Plan Your Future with an IGP! ✨📚
In St. Mary Parish Schools, scheduling middle and high school courses is more than just picking classes—it’s about building a personalized pathway for every student’s future. Each student works with their school counselor and family to create an annual Individual Graduation Plan (IGP) that matches their interests, strengths, and goals. This plan helps guide course selections, ensures students meet graduation requirements, and opens doors to advanced classes, career pathways, and college opportunities. By connecting today’s choices with tomorrow’s dreams, IGPs help students stay on track and make the most of their middle and high school experience. Your Individual Graduation Plan (IGP) is your roadmap to success! When it’s time to schedule classes, your IGP helps you choose courses that match your interests, keep you on track for graduation, and set you up for college, career, or both.
St. Mary Parish Schools complies with Louisiana R.S. 17:175 by requiring parents or guardians to acknowledge and sign IGPs (LA R.S. 17:2925(B)(2) before a student’s schedule is finalized. Each school provides families with detailed information about course offerings, high school graduation requirements, and college admission guidelines, along with notices about any courses that may not meet university entrance requirements. Counselors are available for personal consultation.
This process ensures that parents are fully informed and directly involved in their child’s academic planning and course selections annually.
