Inaugural NASA Astro Camp
We are thrilled to announce the launch of St. Mary Parish Public Schools’ inaugural NASA Astro Camp®! This out-of-this-world experience will be hosted at two locations—W.P. Foster Elementary School in Franklin and Bayou Vista Elementary School in Bayou Vista this summer.
The goal of NASA ASTRO CAMP® is to give ALL students the chance to be involved and experience Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics (STEM) to inspire future astronauts and engineers to learn about space with NASA activities. This camp will offer a hands-on STEM experience for students in grades 1 through 5. With activities focused on space exploration, robotics, engineering challenges, and more. Campers will be propelled into a world of curiosity, discovery, and learning, all while gaining practical skills in STEM fields.
As you know, investing in STEM education is not just an investment in students’ futures, but in the future of St. Mary Parish. By providing our students with hands-on, real-world STEM experiences, we’re preparing them to become the innovators, problem-solvers, and leaders of tomorrow — strengthening our local economy and community.
This camp will be offered at no cost to students, and we are reaching out to our community partners for support. To ensure a memorable and enriching experience for our campers, we are seeking donations to help provide supplies, daily snacks, and a camp t-shirt for each participant. Your support would allow us to enhance the camp experience while promoting STEM education in our community.
Supporting this camp is more than just an act of charity – it’s an investment in a brighter, more prosperous future for everyone in St. Mary Parish.
Any donation, whether monetary or in-kind (such as snack items or sponsorship of camp t-shirts), would be greatly appreciated. As a valued community supporter, your generosity will be recognized on our camp shirts, and we would love to showcase your commitment to the education and future of our young learners.
If you're interested in helping launch the careers of future astronauts and engineers, please contact LeeAnn Hepler or Angelle Ransonet. We would love to discuss how we can showcase your support and partnership.
Thank you in advance for investing in the future of our students and our community. Together, we can help these young minds reach for the stars!
