  • Protect Your Health and Your Identity

Posted by Lee Ann Hepler on 3/5/2021 12:30:00 PM

Protect Your Health and Your Identity

Although we are living through some trying times, do not let your guard down. Now, more than ever, you need to be proactive about protecting your identity.

Colleen Tressler from the FTC’s Division of Consumer and Business Education has shared things to look for to ensure you do not get scammedAs she states in the article, due to the growing number of people with no health insurance, HealthCare.gov has opened a “Special Enrollment Period” from February 15, 2021-May 15, 2021, but this has given scammers an opportunity to get your personal information by posing as government officials. Read the complete article to get all the details.

Not only should you be wary of sharing your personal information over the phone, but you should also be careful about the information that you willingly share on social media. In her article, Seena Gressin from the FTC’s Division of Consumer and Business Education warns of the dangers of sharing too much personal medical information on social media. Posting and sharing things that may seem innocuous, like vaccination cards, is an invitation to criminals trying to steal your identity.
