St. Mary Parish Alternative Program (SMPAP)
-
Located in Verdunville, the St. Mary Parish Alternative Program provides an alternative educational setting to students for whom traditional consequences such as detention and in-school suspension have not improved behaviors that violate district policies.
Assignment to the St. Mary Parish Alternative Program is made by the Supervisor of Child Welfare and Attendance, the Hearing Officer, or the Special Services Discipline Coordinator.
Online instruction in all core courses, as well as in various business and career courses, is provided through Edgenuity. Students will continue to earn grades while at SMPAP. These grades will be sent to the student's home-based school to be averaged into report card grades. Graduation pathways for high school students will not be interrupted.
Parish-wide transportation is provided.
