    The mission of the Berwick High School Band Boosters is to provide support, including funds and services, to meet the needs of the Berwick High School Sound of Pride Band program.

  • Article II. Organization

    Section A. - Name

    The organization shall be known as the Berwick High School Sound of Pride Band Boosters.

         

    Section B. – Membership

    The membership of the organization shall consist of parents and/or guardians of students participating in the Berwick High School Band Program, which consists of band members, Color Guard members, and student managers, or be an adult over 21 years of age who has/had a child/guardian in an aforementioned unit, and who is interested in helping further the organization. There are NO dues to pay to become a member of the Band Boosters, and have full voting privileges with the right to hold office; however, adults who do not have children in any part of the student organization shall note vote, nor be able to hold an elected office.

     

    Section B. – Scope of Capacity

    The Berwick High School Sound of Pride Band Boosters function within the scope of the Berwick High School Band Program.  Therefore, all budgetary decisions, fundraising opportunities and expenditures must be approved by the Berwick High School Band Director and Berwick High School Administration.  The Primary capacity of the Berwick High School Sound of Pride Band Boosters is to support the Band Program in any way the Band Director(s) and the Berwick High School Administration sees fit.  All monies raised, donated or paid must be brought to the Berwick High School Band Director for deposit into the Band Program budget.  Usage of these monies is determined by the needs of the program as designated by the director and administration of Berwick High School.

  • Article III. Executive Board

    Article III: Executive Board

    Section A. – Officers

    The Executive Board shall consist of:

    • Band Directors
    • President
    • Vice President
    • Secretary

    All Executive Board members are voting members, and all with the exception of the Band Directors and shall be elected by a simple majority of the general membership.

     

    Section B. – Nomination and Election Procedure

    Nominations for office will be opened January 1 each year, for the upcoming school year, by contacting one of the Band Directors. Members eligible for office may volunteer themselves for nomination or they may nominate other eligible members. The Band Directors will review all nominations. The Band Directors will determine the ballot, final nominees will be notified, and an official ballot will be presented to the general membership via website. 

     

    Section C. – Term of Office

    The term of office for President, Vice President, Secretary, and Treasurer shall run from June 1 – May 31; however, an officer may succeed himself/herself in office should there be no other persons wishing to hold said office.

     

    Section D. – Vacancy In Office of President

    In the event of a vacancy in the Office of President, the Vice President shall succeed to the Presidency and fill the un-expired term. Should the Vice President be unable to serve, the next officer available in the line of succession will fill the office. The line of succession shall be: Vice President, Secretary, and Treasurer.

     

    Section E. – Vacancies in Offices Other Than President

    A vacancy in any office other than the Presidency will be filled by:

    The line of succession, Special election or Band Director appointment

     

    Section F. – Duties of Executive Board Members

    PRESIDENT

    • Will oversee the general operation of the Band Boosters
    • Will act as liaison between the Band faculty and Boosters
    • Will prepare agendas and conduct all meeting of the Executive Board and all general meetings of the Band Boosters
    • Will conduct the New Parent Social and all Band Booster General Meetings
    • Will assist in planning and travel arrangements for Band Camp, trips and meals on the road.
    • Will follow up on all officers and committee chairpersons to insure all policies and procedures are being followed.
    • May not hold a committee chair

     

     

     

     

     

     

     

     

     

    Section F. – Duties of Executive Board Members (Continued)

    VICE PRESIDENT

    • Will oversee all committees. All committee chairpersons report to the Vice President.
    • Will represent the Executive Board at any fund raising committee meetings.
    • Will report progress of each committee to the President
    • Will maintain and update the Booster Handbook as necessary.
    • May not hold a committee chair

    SECRETARY

    • Email information provided from directors.
    • Post to Facebook to assist in information dissemination
    • Send to newspapers all publicity information regarding the band
    • May not hold a committee chair

     

    Section G. – Termination of Office

    In the event a Board Member is not fulfilling the duties of his/her office, their term of office is subject to termination at the discretion of the Berwick High School Band Director.

  • Article IV. Meetings

    Section A. – General Meetings

    There will be a minimum of two general meetings per year. In addition, the organization shall sponsor a ‘New Parent Social’ for new members, which is to be held in May.

     

    Section B. – Executive Board Meetings

    The Executive Board will meet as needed, including planning meetings prior to each General Meeting, and an organizational meeting for the year, which is to be held in May. Current Executive Board members and any newly elected members shall attend the May Board meeting. Any member of the Executive Board will determine a need for additional or emergency meetings.

     

    Section C. – Amendments and Decisions

    All amendments to the by-laws, policies, procedures, and budgets, will be determined and voted on by the Executive Board. The passage of any items brought before the Executive Board will be determined by a quorum, consisting of any three members of the Executive Board, one MUST be the Band Director of Berwick High School Band Program. All decisions are subject to final approval by the Band Director of Berwick High School and the Administration of Berwick High School.

  • Article V. Standing Committees

    The organization shall have the following standing committees. The standing committees have specific functions within the organization. The chairpersons of each committee shall work under the guidance of the Vice President.  Each committee shall have only one chairperson. Executive Board Members MAY NOT chair a committee.

    3. Field Show
    4. Pit Crew
    5. Travel Crew
    6. Band Camp Fruit
    7. Concession Sales

  • Article VI. Amendments

    Persons who volunteer to perform duties with the organization that no longer have a student in the program, may do so, but may not hold an elected position.

  • Brief Summary of Standing Committees

    1. Clothing
      1. Orders, Delivers all clothing for the SOP Band Program
      2. All designs must be approved by the band director(s) and administration
      3. Any shirts sold for any profit must be accompanied by Fundraiser Approval Form and be approved by administration
    2. Chaperones
      1. Organizes chaperones for each away trip for the Sound of Pride
      2. EXCLUSION: Any out of state travel
      3. Chaperones for out of state travel must be approved by director, administration and complete the St. May Parish School Board background check
    1. Field Show
      1. Builds and sets up props, etc. for the half time show at football games/marching competitions.
    2. Pit Crew
      1. Needs at least 10 people
      2. Should be available for all football games and competitions
      3. Helps the front ensemble set up and break down equipment
    3. Travel Crew
      1. Organizes truck driver for equipment trailers
      2. Organizes 4-wheeler and trailers for pit equipment and props for football games and competitions
    4. Band Camp Fruit
      1. Plans/organizes donations of fruit for band camp each year
    5.   Concession Sales
      1. Maintain list of workers for home football games
      2. Assist in inventory for concession stand
          c.  Organization on game day
